Weekly SPI increases by 0.33%

July 14, 2023 (MLN): The Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the Combined Group increased by 0.33% during the week ended July 13, 2023, while the SPI increased by 28.96% compared to the corresponding period from last year.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) the Combined Index was at 258.63 compared to 257.79 on July 06, 2023 while the index was recorded at 200.55 a year ago, on Jul 06, 2022.

Out of the 51 monitored items, the average price of 21 items increased, 11 items decreased whereas 19 items registered no change during the week.

The weekly SPI percentage change by income groups showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 0.21% and 0.51%.

The Lowest Income Group witnessed a weekly increase of 0.51% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 0.21%.

On a yearly basis, analysis of SPI change across different income segments showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 29.58% and 31.13%.

Yearly SPI for the Lowest Income Group increased by 29.58% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 29.64%.

The average price of Sona urea stood at Rs.3272 per 50 kg bag which is 4.47% higher than last week’s price and 40.01% higher when compared to last year.

Meanwhile, the average Cement price was recorded at Rs.1145 per 50 kg bag, which is 0.09% higher than the previous week and 9.36% higher than prices last year.
