Trading activity slips at PMEX by 10.42% DoD

April 04, 2024 (MLN): Across Metals, Energy, COTS/FX, and indices, the trading activity on Thursday reduced at the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX) to clock in at Rs25.74 billion, marking a 10.42% DoD drop compared to the previous session close of Rs28.73bn.

With a drop in the number of lots traded, 18,977 lots changed hands, compared to the previous close of 19,448.

Thus, the commodity exchange closed at 10,415, down by 0.19% DoD.

Gold remained in the limelight, contributing significantly to the trading volume with transactions worth Rs13.28 billion. Following closely behind, the Currencies through COTS recorded trading valued at Rs3.15bn.

NSDQ 100 also made a prominent spot, clocking in at Rs4.1bn. In addition, Platinum, Crude Oil, and Silver attracted substantial attention from investors as well and their transactions stood at Rs1.2bn, Rs1.07bn, and Rs1.53bn, respectively.

Moreover, transactions of Natural Gas transactions reached Rs211.63 million, DJ at Rs569.36m, Copper at Rs348.3m, SP 500 at Rs244m, Japan Equity at Rs22.3m, and Brent at Rs62.3m.

In the agricultural commodities segment, Cotton saw active trading, with 17 lots amounting to Rs20.8m changing hands.
