Toyota Yaris emerges as the highest selling passenger car in September

October 12, 2020 (MLN): The sale of passenger cars during the month of September 2020 was recorded at 11,860 units against a total production of 12,117 units, which is around 8.6 percent higher as compared to the 10,923 units sold in the same month of last year.

This brought the cumulative sales for the first quarter of the current Fiscal Year at 31,868 units, which is higher by 2.7% as compared to the same period of last year.

According to a monthly report released by Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), the Maximum number of sales were made within the '1300 cc and Above' category at 6,185 units. Within this category, Toyota Yaris recorded the highest sales at 2,421 units, followed by Honda Cars, Toyota Corolla, and Suzuki Swift which sold 2,293, 1,219, and 252 units, respectively.

The second-highest number of sales were made within the 'Below 1000cc' category at 3,728 units. Within this category, Suzuki Alto recorded the highest sales at 3,104 units, followed by Suzuki Bolan which sold 624 units.

On the contrary, the '1000 cc' category witnessed a sale of 1,947 units during the month. wherein Suzuki WagonR recorded the highest sales at 1,161 units, followed by Suzuki Cultus that sold 786 units.

The total number of trucks sold during the month stood at 342 units, which translates into a growth of 50 percent as compared to the previous year. Isuzu emerged as the best-selling truck, with sales of around 169 units during the year, with MASTER following the lead with sales of 94 units. HINO and JAC made sales of 52 units and 27 units, respectively.

The overall sale of buses was recorded at 43 units, which signifies an increase of 19.4 percent as compared to the previous year. Within this segment, Master made the maximum sales at 26 units, while Hino took the second spot by selling around 16 units during the period under review.
