November 15, 2022 (MLN): The United Kingdom has officially removed Pakistan from its list of “High Risk Third Countries”, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bilawal Bhutto informed via Twitter on Monday.

While sharing the official document, the minister said that this removal is due to Pakistan's early completion of the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) action plans.

"The amendment removes Pakistan from the list in accordance with the decision taken by the Financial Action Taskforce (FATF) on 21 October 2022," Statutory Instrument released by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) read.

The FCDO recognizes the progress Pakistan has made to improve money laundering and terrorist financing controls, it added.

To recall, the UK added Pakistan to the list of 21 high-risk countries due to unsatisfactory money laundering and terrorist financing controls in April 2021.
