Textile units of Karachi, Nooriabad, Hyderabad agree to pay 60% hike in terms of gas tariff

September 06, 2023 (MLN): All zero-rated textile units of Karachi, Nooriabad and Hyderabad have signed the agreement for gas supply for the next two months on a tariff which has increased by up to 60%.

On March 16, 2023, the Managing Director Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) briefed all associations regarding the widening gap in demand and supplies of natural gas due to the depletion of reservoirs and in turn, several proposals were discussed during the meeting, the notification issued by SSGC unveiled.

Consequently, it was decided that as an interim measure, the only available option is blending RLNG with indigenous gas to mitigate the supply and demand gap to some extent.

Given the foregoing, blended supplies with the 75:25 indigenous & RLNG for all industrial units (export & non-export) including captive power are two blending options along with the monetary impact.

Meanwhile, 94 MMCFD RLNG will be additionally available in the system.
