August 02, 2024 (MLN): The steering committee discussed the progress of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Pakistan and Denmark regarding a public-private partnership for sustainable infrastructure development.

The committee meeting, aimed at facilitating investment from Denmark—particularly from the leading shipping company Maersk Line convened in Islamabad yesterday under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb.

In May 2024, Danish shipping giant AP Moller–Maersk (MAERSK) announced its plan to invest billions of US dollars in Pakistan’s maritime infrastructure, particularly in Karachi Port.

This investment aims to enhance the port’s infrastructure, logistics warehousing, ship breaking, and port development.

This initiative marks a significant step towards bolstering Pakistan's maritime sector, with the Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Mr. Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh, playing a pivotal role in driving these international collaborations and investments.
