SSGC reports significant drop in line losses to 8% through improved network management

April 18, 2023 (MLN): In a major breakthrough, the Unaccounted-for-Gas (UFG) or line losses in Karachi have slid to 8% after being in double digits for a long, the statement issued by Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (PSX: SSGC) revealed. 

This was the result of the establishment of a zonal-level management structure in Karachi that helped in network management.

Initially, the central region was classified into 10 zones, and based on encouraging results in UFG savings, the east and west regions have also been restructured on similar lines, it said. 

The current 22 zones are headed by respective 'Zonal Managers' with independent reporting lines in distribution, CRD, and billing areas.

This has created a strong sense of operational ownership, resulting in improved responsiveness to complaints, network integrity management, and granular analysis of billing trends, it read.
