SPI increases by 0.74% in a week

November 11, 2022 (MLN): The Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the Combined Group increased by 0.74% during the week ended Nov 10, 2022, while the SPI increased by 29.24% compared to the corresponding period from last year.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) the Combined Index was at 216.48 compared to 214.88 on Nov 03, 2022, while the index was recorded at 167.5 a year ago, on Nov 11, 2021

Out of the 51 monitored items, the average price of 22 items increased, 14 items decreased whereas 15 items registered no change during the week.

The weekly SPI percentage change by income groups showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 0.61% and 1.11%.

The Lowest Income Group witnessed a weekly increase of 1.11% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 0.61%.

On a yearly basis, analysis of SPI change across different income segments showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 26.17% and 30.26%.

Yearly SPI for the Lowest Income Group increased by 26.17% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 30.14%.

The average price of Sona urea stood at Rs.2463 per 50 kg bag which is 0.53% lower than last week’s price and 20.15% higher when compared to last year.

Meanwhile, the average Cement price was recorded at Rs.1040 per 50 kg bag, which is 0.1% higher than the previous week and 40.73% higher than prices last year.
