SBP to announce Monetary Policy decision on January 27

January 20, 2025 (MLN): The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will meet on Monday, January 27, 2025 to decide about the Monetary Policy.

Governor SBP, Jameel Ahmad will announce the Monetary Policy decision at a press conference on the same day after the MPC meeting.

In the last MPC meeting, the committee reduced the policy rate to 13%.

The SBP set the Overnight Reverse Repo (Ceiling) Rate at 14%, while the Overnight Repo (Floor) Rate remained fixed at 12%.

This establishes an interest rate corridor with a range of 12% to 14%, maintaining a width of 200 basis points (bps).

The SBP reaffirmed its commitment to aligning the money market overnight rate with the policy rate, ensuring consistency in the implementation of monetary policy.

All other directives concerning the interest rate corridor remain unchanged.
