PSX sees highest foreign investment via SCRA since Feb 2020

Foreign investors buy Rs2.51bn worth of securities via SCRA

January 27, 2024 (MLN):  Foreign investors recorded the highest net purchase of securities via Specially Convertible Rupee Accounts (SCRA) since February 14, 2020, amounting to Rs18.56 billion for the week ending January 19, 2024, according to the State Bank of Pakistan's weekly report on SCRA.

This inflow through SCRA follows a net sale worth Rs137.78m recorded last week.

During the week, the gross sale of securities was recorded at Rs12.2bn, which is substantially higher than the figure of $3.727bn recorded last week.

Similarly, the total purchase of securities also surged to Rs30.76bn, which is $27.17bn higher than the prior week, resulting in a net purchase of Rs18.56bn for the week.

Over the week, the overall purchase of securities increased by Rs27.17bn while the net sale of securities increased by Rs8.48bn.

Apart from this, the inflow of remittance into these accounts stood at Rs19.4bn, while its outflow has been reported at Rs1.55bn.

The closing balance of SCRA was recorded at Rs24.78bn, which marks a decline of Rs470.47m over the week.
