PSX ends session on positive note as benchmark index gains 155 pts

January 28, 2019 (MLN): Following a brief decline on Friday, the bourse concluded today’s trading session on a positive note. The index gained over 155 points by the day end and closed at 40,420 points due to positive sentiments amongst investors.

Sectors contributed to the performance include Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+37 pts), Automobile Assembler (+23 pts), Refinery (+19 pts), Pharmaceuticals (+17 pts) and Cement (+16 pts).

Among the index heavy weights, gainers on the scrips of PSO (2.4%), MCB (0.75%), ENGRO (0.63%), SEARL (2.60%) and HBL (0.42%) coxed the index towards gains.

Bounded within the range of 204 points, the index touched an intraday high of 40,465 points and an intraday low of 40,261 points.

Nearly 68 million shares were traded today for the scrips listed on the benchmark index with their total value recorded at Rs3.9 billion.

Correspondingly, the broader KSE All Share index gained around 95 points by the day end and closed at 29463 points.

An intraday high of 29,501 points and an intraday low of 29,367 points was recorded by the day end for the all share index with a range of 134 points.

Over 126 million shares of the scrips listed within the broader KSE All Share Index have been traded so far, with its value recorded at Rs.5.1 billion.

Total 296 companies’ transacted shares in the Stock Market today, out of which 156 recorded gains and 125 sustained losses whereas the share price of 15 companies remained unchanged.

The market is expected to remain positive in the upcoming session.
