May 03, 2023 (MNL): Following yesterday's bullish momentum, the local bourse on Wednesday remained in green for most of the day despite political turmoil and economic slowdown. 

Accordingly, the benchmark KSE-100 index gained 160.29 points by the end of the session to close at 42,087.93.

The Index traded in a range of 257.02 points of the previous close, showing an intraday high of 42,171.48 and a low of 41,914.46.

Of the 97 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 47 closed up 48 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 135.52 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Cement with 139 points, Paper & Board with 22 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 17 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 11 points and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 10 points.

The most points added to the index were by LUCK which contributed 82 points followed by PKGS and CHCC with 22 points, OGDC and PIOC with 17 points.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Technology & Communication with 60 points, Insurance with 10 points, Automobile Assembler with 9 points, Refinery with 5 points and Automobile Parts & Accessories with 4 points.

The most points taken off the index were by SYS which stripped the index of 49 points followed by EFUG with 12 points, TRG with 9 points, BAHL with 7 points and MEBL with 6 points.

All Share Volume increased by 69.80mn to 289.84mn shares. Market Cap increased by Rs27.95 billion.

The total number of companies traded was 365 compared to 357 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 160 closed up, 180 closed down while 25 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 13,353 to 113,758.

Value Traded increased by 3.68bn to Rs10.18bn.
