September 23, 2021 (MLN): The capital market witnessed a rebound early on with the KSE-100 index printing an intraday high of 342 points. However, the index gave up gains as investors indulged in aggressive selling that led the market to make an intraday low of 514 points near the close.

Resultantly, the benchmark KSE-100 index shed 300.36 point or 0.66 percent decline to close at 45,296.88 in a volatile session.

The Index traded in a range of 854.74 points or 1.87 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 45,938.77 and a low of 45,084.03.

Of the 96 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 29 closed up 62 closed down, while 5 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 131.20 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Technology & Communication with 91 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 52 points, Commercial Banks with 39 points, Fertilizer with 33 points and Refinery with 30 points.

The most points taken off the index was by TRG which stripped the index of 64 points followed by PPL with 27 points, MCB with 27 points, SYS with 27 points and OGDC with 26 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Pharmaceuticals with 38 points, Paper & Board with 7 points, Chemical with 6 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 2 points and Close – End Mutual Fund with 2 points.

The most points added to the index was by ABOT which contributed 24 points followed by EPCL with 13 points, MTL with 11 points, HUBC with 10 points and HMB with 9 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 139.96 Million to 443.78 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.59.35 Billion.

Total companies traded were 514 compared to 525 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 143 closed up, 349 closed down while 22 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 34,220 to 135,776.

Value Traded decreased by 4.95 Billion to Rs.12.38 Billion
