PSX Closing Bell: Rain Check

July 09, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Tuesday's trading session at 80,672.06, showing an increase of 105.86 points or 0.13%.

The index traded in a range of 556.57 points showing an intraday high of 81,087.42 (+521.22) and a low of 80,530.85 (-35.35) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 309.53 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 53 closed up, 44 closed down, while 3 were unchanged.

KSE-100 index was supported by Fertilizer (+117.22pts), Cement (+40.01pts), Textile Composite (+33.98pts), Food & Personal Care Products (+23.78pts), and Tobacco (+22.42pts).

On the flip-side, the index was let down by Commercial Banks (-166.94pts), Power Generation & Distribution (-37.27pts), Automobile Parts & Accessories (-13.59pts), Refinery (-12.31pts), and Miscellaneous (-7.27pts).

Companies that added points to the index were FFC (+63.26pts), POL (+35.72pts), ILP (+28.38pts), EFERT (+28.12pts), and FFBL (+27.91pts).

On the other hand, companies that dragged the index lower were HUBC (-68.45pts), UBL (-47.70pts), HBL (-45.39pts), BAFL (-41.12pts), and MARI (-24.62pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 51,481.26 with a net gain of 311.93 points or 0.61%.

Total market volume was 610.26 million shares compared to 261.65m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs24.32 billion showing an increase of Rs11.29bn.

There were 300,131 trades reported in 450 companies with 216 closing up, 190 closing down, and 44 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 2,227 points or 2.84% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 18,221 points, equivalent to 29.18%.
