PSX Closing Bell: Material Girl

August 03, 2023 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index closed Thursday's trading session at 48,611.18 showing a decrease of 153.37 points.

The KSE-100 finally saw some correction, after breaching the 49,000pts mark for the first time since June 2017.

The index traded in a range of 863.16 points showing an intraday high of 49,404.5 and a low of 48,541.34.

Total Volume of the KSE100 Index was 289.325 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 37 closed up, 59 closed down, 2 were unchanged while 2 remained untraded.

KSE100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks with 84.98, Technology & Communication with 74.29, Chemical with 30.51, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 28.6 and Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 28.05 points.

Companies dragging the index lower were UBL with 81.78, MEBL with 53.32, TRG with 44.74, PPL with 32.33 and BAHL with 21.68 points.

KSE100 index was supported by Automobile Assembler with 62.75, Power Generation & Distribution with 43.87, Pharmaceuticals with 31.62, Cement with 29.59 and Automobile Parts & Accessories with 16.08 points.

Companies adding points to the index were MTL with 68.14, HBL with 56.81, HUBC with 41.03, BAFL with 26.61 and LUCK with 21.11 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 32,302.19 with a net loss of 200.25 points.

Total market volume was 526.04 million shares compared to 556.141 from the previous session while traded value being recorded at 19.03 billion showing a decrease of Rs.0.96 billion.

There was 225,708 trades reported in 367 companies with 129 closing up, 216 closing down and 22 remaining unchanged.
