PSX Closing Bell: Marginal Retreat

August 04, 2023 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index closed Friday's trading session at 48,585.71 showing a decrease of 25.47 points.

The index traded in a range of 412.28 points showing an intraday high of 48,840.27 and a low of 48,427.99.

Total Volume of the KSE100 Index was 210.396 million shares.

To note, the KSE-100 index gained 1,508pts or 3.2% WoW.

Of the 100 index companies 37 closed up, 55 closed down, 3 were unchanged while 5 remained untraded.

KSE100 Index was let down by Fertilizer with 50.93, Technology & Communication with 35.66, Commercial Banks with 29.48, Cement with 25.38 and Textile Composite with 11.5 points.

Companies dragging the index lower were ENGRO with 36.0, UBL with 34.0, MCB with 26.8, SYS with 24.58 and HUBC with 16.54 points.

KSE100 index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 45.27, Automobile Assembler with 38.7, Refinery with 25.34, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 13.71 and Miscellaneous with 8.9 points.

Companies adding points to the index were OGDC with 62.16, MTL with 40.97, HBL with 20.01, MEBL with 17.75 and KAPCO with 15.26 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 32,317.46 with a net gain of 15.27 points.

Total market volume was 331.132 million shares compared to 526.04 from the previous session while traded value being recorded at 12.5 billion showing a decrease of Rs.6.53 billion.

There was 151,553 trades reported in 336 companies with 130 closing up, 183 closing down and 23 remaining unchanged.
