PSX Closing Bell: KSE-100 Index recovers by 296.74 points

January 10, 2023 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index on Tuesday recovered by 296.74 points (0.73% DoD), to close at 40,801.50 after making a high of 40,986.44 in intraday trading.

Yesterday, the stock market closed negative which lose 502.76 Points to settle at 40,504.76 level.

At International Geneva Conference on monday, many donors’ agencies announced the foreign aid for infrastructure development which is devasted during heavy floods last year.

On the IMF side, most awaited meeting with IMF held with Finance Minister for 9th review which results in no major breakthrough, however, FM reiterated the commitment to complete the IMF program.

By the session’s end, the total volumes of the KSE-100 index stood at 115.51mn shares, increased by 15.58% DoD from 97.51mn shares traded on Monday.

Out of 100, shares of 95 companies were traded on Tuesday, of which 74 registered an increase, 21 recorded a fall.

In terms of sectors, most of the positive contributions came from automobile assembler automobile parts & accessories, cable electric goods, cement, and chemical which cumulatively added 134.45points to the index tally by the day’s end.

Meanwhile, the volume leaders on the benchmark index were LUCK (13.3mn), ENGRO (4.08mn), SYS(7.51mn), MTL (14.86mn), and UBL (1.33mn).

The scrips which gained the most during the session included: COLG (1.61%), MTL (3.10%), MARI (0.91%), LUCK (3.10%), and THALL (6.23%). On the other hand, the stocks that emerged as net losers during the day included RMPL (4.70%), MUREB (4.16%), INDU (0.91%), ATLH (3.02%), and SRVI (2.01%).
