May 17, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index closed Friday's trading session at 75,342.35 showing an increase of 411.65 points or 0.55%.

The index remained positive throughout the day, showing an intraday high of 75,401.12 (+470.42) and a low of 74,947.71 (+17.02) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 188.72 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 68 closed up, 30 closed down, while 2 were unchanged.

KSE-100 index was supported by Fertilizer (86.49pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (78.82pts), Power Generation & Distribution (63.89pts), Automobile Parts & Accessories (38.85pts), and Pharmaceuticals (34.08pts).

On the flip-side, the index was let down by Commercial Banks (37.31pts), Leather & Tanneries (17.59pts), Insurance (3.12pts), Tobacco (2.69pts), and Transport (1.02pts).

Companies adding points to the index were DAWH (82.03pts), HUBC (43.04pts), THALL (38.85pts), EFERT (33.66pts), and FFC (26.72pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were SRVI (17.59pts), LUCK (14.72pts), MCB (10.43pts), MEBL (9.83pts), and HBL (9.71pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 48,769.46 with a net gain of 232.52 points.

Total market volume was 496.70 million shares compared to 407.63m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs17.63 billion showing an increase of Rs649.78m.

There were 224,335 trades reported in 384 companies with 212 closing up, 151 closing down and 21 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 33,890 points or 81.76% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 12,891 points, equivalent to 20.64%.
