PSX Closing Bell: Even the Waves

June 4, 2021 (MLN): Contrary to yesterday’s trade, the KSE-100 Index climbed up by 118 points or an increase of 0.25 percent to close at 48,211-level on Friday, owing to investors' positive sentiment ahead of a budgetary announcement by the government.

The Index remained positive throughout the session and closed almost where it started after touching an intraday high of 48,426.63 points.

Of the 99 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 57 closed up 39 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 317.43 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Automobile Assembler with 35 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 25 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 23 points, Pharmaceuticals with 23 points and Automobile Parts & Accessories with 14 points.

The most points added to the index was by UBL which contributed 16 points followed by GLAXO with 14 points, HCAR with 13 points, HASCOL with 12 points and PSMC with 12 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Commercial Banks with 15 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 12 points, Chemical with 10 points, Synthetic & Rayon with 2 points and Cable & Electrical Goods with 2 points.

The most points taken off the index was by BAHL which stripped the index of 25 points followed by PSX with 11 points, MEBL with 9 points, KTML with 8 points and COLG with 7 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 22.63 Million to 867.30 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.26.25 Billion.

Total companies traded were 422 compared to 428 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 249 closed up, 150 closed down while 23 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 15,015 to 214,138.

Value Traded decreased by 5.08 Billion to Rs.26.58 Billion
