December 18, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 111,070.29, showing a decrease of 3,790.39 points or 3.30%.

The index traded in a range of 5,340.43 points showing an intraday high of 116,236.70 (+1,376.02) and a low of 110,896.27 (-3,964.41) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 507.24 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 9 closed up, and 91 closed down. 

Top losers during the day were MARI (-10.00%), NBP (-10.00%), NML (-8.43%), PGLC (-8.34%), and PABC (-8.08%).

On the other hand, top gainers were POML (+6.34%), PSO (+5.13%), HGFA (+2.62%), INDU (+2.17%), and BOP (+1.09%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were MARI (-633.52pts), FFC (-523.88pts), HUBC (-249.13pts), PPL (-173.50pts), and MEBL (-150.71pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were PSO (+132.56pts), INDU (+19.83pts), PAEL (+5.16pts), BOP (+4.95pts), and PSX (+3.76pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Fertilizer (-869.93pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-850.52pts), Commercial Banks (-711.42pts), Cement (-367.80pts), and Power Generation & Distribution (-296.56pts).

While the index was supported by Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+90.13pts), Cable & Electrical Goods (+5.16pts), Close-End Mutual Fund (+2.42pts), Vanaspati & Allied Industries (+0.98pts), and Synthetic & Rayon (+0.04pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 70,168.45 with a net loss of 2,171.58 points or 3.00%.

Total market volume was 1,111.92 million shares compared to 1,252.98m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs60.24 billion showing a decrease of Rs2.48bn.

There were 486,123 trades reported in 472 companies with 89 closing up, 349 closing down, and 34 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 32,625 points or 41.59% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 48,619 points or 77.85% so far this calendar year.
