PSX Closing Bell: Cashing In

October 28, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Monday's trading session at 90,195.51, showing an increase of 201.55 points or 0.22%.

The index traded in a range of 1,322.10 points showing an intraday high of 91,054.83 (+1,060.87) and a low of 89,732.73 (-261.23) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 267.24 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 43 closed up, 54 closed down, 2 were unchanged, while 1 remained untraded.

Top gainers during the day were PGLC (+10.75%), GLAXO (+10.00%), FCEPL (+10.00%), PKGP (+7.93%), and COLG (+6.81%).

On the other hand, top losers were GHGL (-5.22%), KEL (-4.80%), INIL (-4.57%), PKGS (-4.30%), and EFUG (-4.24%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were SYS (+105.81pts), COLG (+65.32pts), PSO (+61.26pts), POL (+58.21pts), and PPL (+50.43pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were FFC (-139.04pts), EFERT (-66.29pts), MTL (-46.72pts), MARI (-46.01pts), and HUBC (-41.11pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+126.53pts), Food & Personal Care Products (+102.87pts), Technology & Communication (+95.78pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+85.05pts), and Pharmaceuticals (+71.16pts).

While the index was let down by Fertilizer (-221.78pts), Refinery (-24.73pts), Glass & Ceramics (-20.50pts), Leather & Tanneries (-18.72pts), and Paper, Board & Packaging (-17.28pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 57,651.29 with a net gain of 189.76 points or 0.33%.

Total market volume was 567.26 million shares compared to 695.54m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs29.21 billion showing a decrease of Rs8.66bn.

There were 312,679 trades reported in 456 companies with 179 closing up, 222 closing down, and 55 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 11,751 points or 14.98% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 27,744 points or 44.43% so far this calendar year.
