PM Shehbaz optimistic about IMF program

February 22, 2023 (MLN): The government has made significant progress in meeting the IMF terms, with only one or two items remaining to achieve full compliance, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said while addressing a meeting with Federal Cabinet on Wednesday.

Amidst the current challenging circumstances faced by the country, it is prudent to consider implementing austerity measures, he emphasized.

"We have to stand up and face the challenge and let everybody knows that the Pakistani nation is a resilient nation," he stated.

He urged the government officers to demonstrate the austerity during this challenging period, which has been caused by various factors such as imported inflation, IMF conditions, and the performance of the previous government.
