PM officially appoints Shahzad Qasim as his Special Assistant on Power Sector

October 26, 2018: The Cabinet Division has issued a formal notification for appointment of Shahzad Qasim, as Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Special Assistant on the Power Sector. Khan had previously given his approval for the appointment.

According to the Cabinet Shahzad Qasim has been tasked to work with the Power Division and Task Force on Energy from Oct 24. He would develop a plan for resource mobilization for addressing the Circular Debt issue; and a plan for optimum funding of a Power Sector Support Fund in the light of international best practices, while keeping in view the political, economic and social fabric of Pakistan.

Shahzad Qasim would execute any other initiative, or implement any other policies, as directed by the Prime Minister or the Federal Minister for Power, the notification said.
