PM meets business leaders to boost economic growth

March 07, 2025 (MLN): To enhance economic growth and strengthen collaboration between the government and the private sector, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with a delegation of leading business figures at the Prime Minister’s House.

During the discussion, the Prime Minister recognized the vital contributions of the business community and assured them of the government's commitment to facilitating investments and driving economic progress.

“I welcome you all,” said PM Shehbaz, while lauding the role of the business community in generating economic activity in the country.

“You all invested your capital in this country even in difficult times for the country’s industrial and economic development,” he said.

The prime minister reiterated that the country’s macroeconomic indicators are improving.

“However, we need to focus now on employment, production, exports, agriculture and industry.”

"The sincere and honest business community is our valuable asset," the Prime Minister stated.

"Thanks to your efforts, the wheels of the economy kept turning, and people found employment," the Prime Minister remarked.

"We will continue the journey of economic improvement and reforms in all sectors with your consultation and valuable opinions," he assured.

He further noted the government is providing a conducive environment for business activities and investment in the country.

"The journey of investment begins with local investors," he emphasized.

"The purpose of consultation is to accelerate the development of the national economy," the Prime Minister explained.

He stated that trade officers posted abroad have been given clear targets for the promotion of trade and exports.

During the meeting, the participants expressed their full confidence in the government’s business-friendly policies.

The participants also appreciated the government's establishment of the National Seed Development Authority to ensure the availability of quality seeds for agricultural development.

The attendees praised the government's Green Pakistan Initiative.

"Due to the government's policies, Pakistan's IT industry is rapidly gaining recognition on the global stage," the participants noted.

The attendees also presented various suggestions regarding different sectors, as per the press release issued today.

The Prime Minister directed all relevant ministries to hold meetings and consultations with representatives and stakeholders from the business sector.

The delegation included Gohar Ejaz, Syed Yawar Ali, Atif Sheikh, Fawad Mukhtar, Shahid Hussain, S.M. Tanveer, Mian Ahsan, Saleem Ghauri, Shehzad Malik, Usman Malik, Atif Inam, and Shehzad Asghar.

Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Ahsan Khan Cheema, Jam Kamal Khan, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Attaullah Tarar, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Hanif Abbasi, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar, Prime Minister’s Coordinator Rana Ehsan Afzal, FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
