PM greenlights youth training plan aligned with market demands

March 06, 2025 (MLN):  A plan to provide youth with training programs tailored to market and industry demands has been approved, as announced by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

During a review meeting on the National Youth Employment Plan in Islamabad, the Prime Minister decided to personally chair monthly meetings to monitor the plan’s implementation.

The meeting was briefed on the action plan aimed at providing training and employment opportunities through various institutions over the next four years.

The Prime Minister directed officials to maintain regular communication with local industries for training youth in various sectors and to assess the demand for manpower in international organizations.

He also emphasized the need to establish a comprehensive database of the skills required by local industries, as per the press release.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that the talented youth of Pakistan are the nation’s most valuable asset.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering and employing youth by providing vocational training and essential skills.

The Prime Minister also noted that steps are being taken to promote the export of manpower by offering international-quality training to Pakistani youth.

It was shared during the meeting that between 2.4 million to 6m youth would be supported with vocational training and skill development to access employment opportunities over the next four years.

The meeting also mentioned that manpower requirements in local markets, industries, and at the international level are being considered to provide the youth with the necessary skills and training.

Additionally, it was revealed that the establishment of the Digital Youth Hub is in its final stages and will be launched this month.

The Prime Minister praised the efforts of the concerned ministries and institutions in advancing these initiatives.
