Pakistan, China MoUs progress reviewed

April 14, 2026 (MLN):  Pakistan-China cooperation continues to expand under ongoing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) as progress on recently signed agreements during the President’s visits to the People’s Republic of China was reviewed in detail.

The briefing, held at the Chief Minister House Karachi, assessed implementation across multiple joint initiatives and emphasized turning agreements into practical outcomes through defined timelines, stronger institutional coordination, removal of administrative bottlenecks, and greater transparency to support investment and accelerate project execution.

The meeting was attended by Asif Ali Zardari, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Faryal Talpur, Dr Asim Hussain, Sharjeel Inam Memon, Nasir Hussain Shah, Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, Muhammad Khan Mahar, Muhammad Ali Malkani, Saleem Mandviwalla, and Sohail Anwar Siyal, along with senior provincial officials including the Chief Secretary Sindh, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Chairman Planning & Development Board, and secretaries of Energy, Livestock & Fisheries, Environment & Climate Change, Agriculture, and Local Government.

During the briefing, it was noted that Pakistan–China collaboration presents significant opportunities for modernising infrastructure, strengthening industrial capacity, and advancing socio-economic development, according to a press release issued.

The President directed all departments to maintain close coordination with Chinese counterparts and ensure continuous monitoring mechanisms to expedite progress across sectors including energy, agriculture, livestock development, environmental management, recycling technologies, and food security initiatives.
