PM directs to review prices of essential commodities on weekly basis

November 5, 2019: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed to make all out efforts to provide maximum relief to the common man.

He gave this direction while chairing a meeting of the government's economic team in Islamabad.

The Prime Minister also asked to review the prices of essential items on weekly basis and a strict check be kept on prices of items used by common man.

Imran Khan while terming the improvement in economic indicators as encouraging said international institutions including World Bank have acknowledged the government efforts and their positive impacts.

He said the target of government is to further improve these economic indicators.

The meeting decided to keep a constant eye on the pace of development projects in order to spur economic activities in the country and to timely spend the funds allocated by the government for development projects.

The Prime Minister emphasized to make the system of checking progress of development projects more effective.

Various proposals to further strengthen banking courts were presented to Prime Minister during the meeting. The Prime Minister directed to finalize the proposals in consultation with Ministry of Law in the next ten days.

The meeting also reviewed the measures to reactivate sick units.    

The Prime Minister was told that revenue collection by FBR has seen improvement of fifteen to sixteen percent.
