PM calls for establishing National Demand Supply Cell to control prices of essential commodities

February 13, 2020: Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a meeting on adulteration and price control in Islamabad on Thursday.

Among others, the Chief Ministers of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Chief Secretaries of Balochistan and Sindh also participated in the meeting through video conference.

During the meeting, PM called for the establishment of a National Demand Supply Cell to maintain the prices of essential commodities.

The meeting also reviewed various measures taken by the incumbent government to check adulteration, hoarding and inflation in the country.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed serious concern over prices of flour in Sindh, and therefore directed the provincial governments to form National Action Plan within a one week to check prices of various commodities.

The Sindh government has been directed to control price hike of various commodities, including wheat and flour, while the Balochistan government was directed to establish Food Testing Laboratory to check adulteration in various commodities.
