PKR weakens by around 12 paisa against USD

December 11, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) decreased by 11.82 paisa or 0.04% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.17 per USD, compared to previous closing of 278.05.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.15 and a low (ask) of 278.00.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 277.30 for buying and 279.2 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR strengthened 1.09 rupees or 0.37% against the Euro, closing at 292.12 compared to the previous value of 293.20.

Against the British Pound, PKR decreased by 17.85 paisa or 0.05% to 354.48 compared to 354.31 a day ago.

The local unit gained 1.78 rupees or 0.56% against Swiss franc to close at 314.44.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value strengthened 0.74 paisa or 0.40% to close the session at 1.8256 versus 1.8330 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee increased 10.24 paisa or 0.27% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.25 from 38.35.

The local currency fell by 0.78 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.02. While it depreciated by 3.11 paisa or 0.04% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.73.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has rose against the US Dollar by 17.30 paisa or 0.06%. While it has strengthened 3.69 rupees or 1.33% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates fell by 10bps to 12.14% and 12.39%.
