Pakistan, Bangladesh textile bodies plan joint business meetings

September 28, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and Bangladesh are preparing to deepen cooperation between their textile and garment industries through joint business-to-business activities and greater participation in industry exhibitions.

Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) President Mohammad Hatem held a meeting with Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider at the BKMEA office in Dhaka on September 27, according to Pakistan’s Foreign Office press release.

Several BKMEA directors also attended the meeting.

The discussions focused on implementing activities under the memorandum of understanding between BKMEA and the Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMA).

The two sides also discussed organizing joint business-to-business meetings to connect companies from the two countries and identify opportunities for commercial cooperation.

Hatem invited Pakistani companies to participate in an international textile, knitting and garment industry exhibition scheduled for January 2027 in Dhaka.

Participation in the exhibition is expected to provide Pakistani businesses an opportunity to engage directly with Bangladesh’s textile and garment industry and explore supply-chain linkages.

The BKMEA president and Pakistan’s High Commissioner also discussed broader efforts to deepen commercial relations between the two countries.

Haider assured the BKMEA leadership of Pakistan’s support and cooperation in expanding bilateral trade and commercial collaboration.

The discussions come as both countries seek to strengthen industry-level linkages and identify opportunities for greater cooperation in the textile and apparel supply chains.
