PKR weakens by 6 paisa against USD

October 29, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) decreased by 6.11 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 277.74 per USD, compared to previous closing of 277.68.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 277.80 and a low (ask) of 277.70.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 277.60 for buying and 277.80 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR deteriorated 27.43 paisa or 0.09% against the Euro, closing at 300.24 compared to the previous value of 299.97.

Against the British Pound, PKR weakened by 34.30 paisa or 0.10% to 360.40 compared to 360.06 a day ago.

The local unit fell 62.46 paisa or 0.20% against Swiss franc to close at 320.63.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value deteriorated 0.26 paisa or 0.14% to close the session at 1.8131 versus 1.8105 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee rose 5.52 paisa or 0.14% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.89 from 38.95.

The local currency deteriorated by 1.43 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 73.95. While it weakened by 1.66 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.62.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has strengthened against the US Dollar by 59.89 paisa or 0.22%. While it has rose 4.12 rupees or 1.48% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates fell by 8 bps to 13.75% and 14.00%.
