PKR stands firm against dollar

June 26, 2023 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 2.65 Paisa against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session as the currency settled the trade at PKR 286.70 per USD, compared to the previous session's closing of PKR 286.73 per USD.

The currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 286.7 and a low (ask) of 286.6.

In the open market, Exchange Companies quoted the dollar at 288 for buying and 291 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR lost 55.9 paisa against the Euro, closing at 312.22 compared to the previous value of 311.66.

The British Pound became more expensive by 58.28 paisa closing at 365.18 compared to 364.59 from a day ago.

The Swiss franc saw gains of 1.84 rupees, closing at 320.20 compared to 318.365 from the previous session.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR gained 0.36 paisa, closing at 2.0033 versus 2.0069 a day ago.

The Chinese Yuan lost 28.95 paisa, closing at 39.64 against 39.93 from the previous session.

The Saudi Riyal decreased in value by 0.83 paisa from 78.06 a day ago to 78.05.

The U.A.E Dirham closed at 76.44 with a gain of 0.93 paisa from its values of 76.43 a day ago.

During the current financial year, PKR has depreciated against the Dollar by 81.86 Rupees or 28.55%. While the current calendar year has seen PKR depreciate by 60.28 Rupees or 21.02%.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6-Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 4 bps to 21.84% and 22.09%.
