PKR nears 281 per USD

April 08, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) has continued its downward trajectory, depreciating by 15.62 paisa (0.06%) against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to close at PKR 280.73 per USD compared to the previous close of PKR 280.57.

This also marked a new 52-week low for the currency. Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.70 and a low (ask) of 280.60.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.00 for buying and 282.00 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR gained 2.38 rupees or 0.77% against the Euro, closing at 306.83 compared to the previous value of 309.21.

Against the British Pound, PKR increased by 4.32 rupees or 1.19% to 357.95 compared to 362.27 a day ago.

The local unit gained 4.40 rupees or 1.33% against Swiss franc to close at 326.69.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value strengthened 1.89 paisa or 0.98% to close the session at 1.9052 versus 1.9241 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee appreciated 10.87 paisa or 0.28% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.27 from 38.38.

The local currency deteriorated by 4.16 paisa or 0.06% against Saudi Riyal to 74.78. While it decreased by 4.15 paisa or 0.05% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.43.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has weakened against the US Dollar by 2.38 rupees or 0.85%. While it has decreased 2.18 rupees or 0.77% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 11.86% and 12.11%.
