PKR loses another 8 paisa against USD

May 22, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 8.29 paisa against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session as the currency settled the trade at PKR 278.47 per USD, compared to the previous session's closing of PKR 278.39 per USD.

The currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.7 and a low (ask) of 278.5.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 277 for buying and 279.54 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR gained 16.05 paisa against the Euro, closing at 302.31 compared to the previous value of 302.47.

The British Pound became expensive by 94.09 paisa closing at 354.89 compared to 353.95 from a day ago.

The Swiss franc saw losses of 81.37 paisa, closing at 305.04 compared to 305.86 from the previous session.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR gained 0.18 paisa, closing at 1.7802 versus 1.782 a day ago.

The Chinese Yuan gained 0.56 paisa, closing at 38.46 against 38.46 from the previous session.

The Saudi Riyal closed at 74.25 with a gain of 1.81 paisa from its value of 74.23 a day ago.

The U.A.E Dirham increased in value by 2.36 paisa from 75.82 a day ago to 75.79.

During the current financial year, PKR has appreciated against the Dollar by 7.52 rupees or 2.7%. While the current calendar year has seen PKR appreciate by 3.39 rupees or 1.22%.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates remained unchanged at 21.01% and 21.26%.
