PKR loses 8 paisa against USD

October 15, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) weakened by 8.17 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 277.74 per USD, compared to previous closing of 277.66.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 277.85 and a low (ask) of 277.75.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 277.86 for buying and 279.35 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR rose 42.46 paisa or 0.14% against the Euro, closing at 303.04 compared to the previous value of 303.47.

Against the British Pound, PKR decreased by 42.61 paisa or 0.12% to 363.22 compared to 362.79 a day ago.

The local unit gained 67.43 paisa or 0.21% against Swiss franc to close at 322.45.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value depreciated 0.43 paisa or 0.23% to close the session at 1.8632 versus 1.8589 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee rose 17.73 paisa or 0.45% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.04 from 39.22.

The local currency fell by 3.75 paisa or 0.05% against Saudi Riyal to 73.98. While it deteriorated by 2.32 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.62.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has gained against the US Dollar by 59.89 paisa or 0.22%. While it has risen 4.12 rupees or 1.48% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 4 bps to 14.41% and 14.66%.
