PKR loses 10 paisa against USD

November 19, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) weakened by 9.69 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 277.95 per USD, compared to previous closing of 277.86.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.10 and a low (ask) of 278.00.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 276.40 for buying and 278.90 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR deteriorated 1.16 rupees or 0.40% against the Euro, closing at 294.17 compared to the previous value of 293.01.

Against the British Pound, PKR depreciated by 1.60 rupees or 0.46% to 352.18 compared to 350.58 a day ago.

The local unit depreciated 1.28 rupees or 0.41% against Swiss franc to close at 314.48.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value decreased 0.50 paisa or 0.28% to close the session at 1.7992 versus 1.7942 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee deteriorated 2.15 paisa or 0.06% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.38 from 38.36.

The local currency depreciated by 1.69 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 74.04. While it decreased by 2.64 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.68.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has rose against the US Dollar by 38.89 paisa or 0.14%. While it has strengthened 3.91 rupees or 1.41% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 1bps to 13.39% and 13.64%.
