PKR increases by 2 paisa against USD

January 31, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 2.27 paisa or 0.01% against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.95 per USD, compared to previous closing of 278.97.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.10 and a low (ask) of 278.95.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.00 for buying and 281.00 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR increased 51.19 paisa or 0.18% against the Euro, closing at 290.22 compared to the previous value of 290.73.

Against the British Pound, PKR gained by 48.85 paisa or 0.14% to 346.85 compared to 347.33 a day ago.

The local unit rose 1.11 rupees or 0.36% against Swiss franc to close at 306.69.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value rose 0.21 paisa or 0.12% to close the session at 1.8036 versus 1.8057 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee rose 0.32 paisa or 0.01% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.47 from 38.47.

The local currency strengthened by 0.50 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.37. While it rose by 0.62 paisa or 0.01% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.95.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has deteriorated against the US Dollar by 60.83 paisa or 0.22%. While it has deteriorated 39.95 paisa or 0.14% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 3bps to 11.47% and 11.72%.
