PKR increases by 10 paisa against USD

February 07, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) rose by 10.00 paisa or 0.04% against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.05 per USD, compared to previous closing of 279.15.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.20 and a low (ask) of 279.05.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.00 for buying and 281.10 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR weakened 9.16 paisa or 0.03% against the Euro, closing at 289.84 compared to the previous value of 289.75.

Against the British Pound, PKR increased by 1.02 rupees or 0.29% to 347.16 compared to 348.18 a day ago.

The local unit gained 1.17 rupees or 0.38% against Swiss franc to close at 307.79.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value fell 0.76 paisa or 0.42% to close the session at 1.8373 versus 1.8297 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee rose 1.84 paisa or 0.05% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.29 from 38.31.

The local currency gained by 2.46 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 74.40. While it gained by 2.62 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.97.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has depreciated against the US Dollar by 70.44 paisa or 0.25%. While it has depreciated 49.56 paisa or 0.18% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 2bps to 11.53% and 11.78%.
