PKR gains 5 paisa per USD

March 06, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained by 5.33 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.82 per USD, compared to previous closing of 279.87.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.90 and a low (ask) of 279.80.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.20 for buying and 281.50 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR deteriorated 3.73 rupees or 1.25% against the Euro, closing at 302.07 compared to the previous value of 298.34.

Against the British Pound, PKR decreased by 2.34 rupees or 0.65% to 361.03 compared to 358.69 a day ago.

The local unit rose 44.98 paisa or 0.14% against Swiss franc to close at 314.65.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value deteriorated 1.28 paisa or 0.68% to close the session at 1.8859 versus 1.8731 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee deteriorated 9.13 paisa or 0.24% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.64 from 38.55.

The local currency gained by 2.01 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 74.60. While it increased by 1.45 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.19.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has deteriorated against the US Dollar by 1.47 rupees or 0.53%. While it has deteriorated 1.27 rupees or 0.45% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 11.57% and 11.82%.
