PKR gains 5 paisa per USD

February 28, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) strengthened by 5.40 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.67 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 279.72.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.75 and a low (ask) of 279.65.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279 for buying and 281.50 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR strengthened 2.06 rupees or 0.70% against the Euro, closing at 290.87 compared to the previous value of 292.93.

Against the British Pound, PKR rose by 2.26 rupees or 0.64% to 352.17 compared to 354.44 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 1.51 rupees or 0.49% against Swiss franc to close at 310.40.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value increased 1.57 paisa or 0.84% to close the session at 1.8591 versus 1.8748 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee increased 9.14 paisa or 0.24% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.40 from 38.49.

The local currency gained by 1.04 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.57. While it increased by 1.37 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.15.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has decreased against the US Dollar by 1.33 rupees or 0.47%. While it has depreciated 1.12 rupees or 0.40% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates increased by 52bps to 12.12% and 12.37%.
