PKR gains 10 paisa per USD

April 22, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained by 9.93 paisa or 0.04% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 280.77 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 280.87.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.90 and a low (ask) of 280.75.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.50 for buying and 282.40 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR rose 1.66 rupees or 0.51% against the Euro, closing at 322.79 compared to the previous value of 324.45.

Against the British Pound, PKR increased by 1.07 rupees or 0.29% to 375.54 compared to 376.62 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 2.53 rupees or 0.73% against Swiss franc to close at 346.22.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value deteriorated 0.26 paisa or 0.13% to close the session at 1.9999 versus 1.9973 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee strengthened 14.98 paisa or 0.39% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.39 from 38.54.

The local currency appreciated by 1.05 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.85. While it strengthened by 2.81 paisa or 0.04% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.44.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has weakened against the US Dollar by 2.43 rupees or 0.86%. While it has depreciated 2.22 rupees or 0.79% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 11.84% and 12.09%.
