Karachi’s Shadman Park, IT centre get Rs14.5m revamp

September 14, 2026 (MLN): Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab inaugurated a Rs14.5 million rehabilitation project comprising the renovation of Shadman Park and the establishment of an IT centre in Shadman Town, District Central.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by City Council members, elected representatives and relevant officials.

Speaking at the event, Murtaza Wahab said development initiatives were being carried out across Karachi to improve recreational, educational and other essential facilities for citizens.

He said the rehabilitation had transformed Shadman Park into a cleaner and more attractive recreational space for residents of the locality, according to APP. 

The 4,400-square-metre park has been upgraded with modern amenities, including a dedicated play area and swings for children.

The mayor highlighted the growing importance of artificial intelligence and information technology, stressing the need to equip young people with modern skills and knowledge.

He further said the newly rehabilitated IT centre was now operational, with the admissions process commencing today.

Following the completion of admissions, the centre will offer free courses in artificial intelligence and information technology to young people, with classes expected to begin within the next 30 days.
