PKR falls 8 paisa against USD

January 27, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) fell by 8.03 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.83 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 278.75.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.95 and a low (ask) of 278.85.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.50 for buying and 281.30 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR weakened 9.80 paisa or 0.03% against the Euro, closing at 291.71 compared to the previous value of 291.62.

Against the British Pound, PKR depreciated by 1.51 rupees or 0.44% to 346.80 compared to 345.29 a day ago.

The local unit gained 35.30 paisa or 0.11% against Swiss franc to close at 307.59.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value increased 0.51 paisa or 0.28% to close the session at 1.7887 versus 1.7938 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee gained 6.27 paisa or 0.16% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.38 from 38.45.

The local currency weakened by 1.94 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 74.33. While it fell by 2.29 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.92.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has weakened against the US Dollar by 49.13 paisa or 0.18%. While it has depreciated 28.25 paisa or 0.10% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2bps to 11.39% and 11.64%.
