PKR falls 7 paisa against USD

December 31, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) weakened by 7.28 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.55 per USD, compared to previous closing of 278.48.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.55 and a low (ask) of 278.55.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 278 for buying and 279.60 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR increased 13.30 paisa or 0.05% against the Euro, closing at 290.08 compared to the previous value of 290.21.

Against the British Pound, PKR appreciated by 25.67 paisa or 0.07% to 349.71 compared to 349.96 a day ago.

The local unit rose 20.98 paisa or 0.07% against Swiss franc to close at 308.44.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value deteriorated 1.94 paisa or 1.10% to close the session at 1.7834 versus 1.7640 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee weakened 1.03 paisa or 0.03% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.16 from 38.15.

The local currency strengthened by 2.01 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 74.14. While it weakened by 1.99 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.84.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has weakened against the US Dollar by 20.88 paisa or 0.07%. While it has appreciated 3.31 rupees or 1.19% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2bps to 11.91% and 12.16%.
