April 17, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) deteriorated by 15.74 paisa or 0.06% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 280.62 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 280.46.
Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.60 and a low (ask) of 280.55.
In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.00 for buying and 282.25 for selling.
In comparison to major currencies, PKR weakened 30.53 paisa or 0.10% against the Euro, closing at 319.32 compared to the previous value of 319.01.
Against the British Pound, PKR rose by 74.52 paisa or 0.20% to 371.61 compared to 372.36 a day ago.
The local unit rose 83.86 paisa or 0.24% against Swiss franc to close at 343.24.
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value strengthened 0.70 paisa or 0.35% to close the session at 1.9649 versus 1.9719 a day ago.
Pakistani Rupee fell 15.46 paisa or 0.40% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.45 from 38.29.
The local currency weakened by 4.19 paisa or 0.06% against Saudi Riyal to 74.78. While it depreciated by 4.29 paisa or 0.06% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.40.
During the current fiscal year, PKR has decreased against the US Dollar by 2.28 rupees or 0.81%. While it has weakened 2.07 rupees or 0.74% so far this calendar year.
In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 1bps to 11.84% and 12.09%.
