PKR falls 11 paisa against USD

February 21, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 10.68 paisa or 0.04% against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.57 per USD, compared to previous closing of 279.46.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.65 and a low (ask) of 279.55.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.00 for buying and 281.35 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR fell 1.86 rupees or 0.64% against the Euro, closing at 293.39 compared to the previous value of 291.54.

Against the British Pound, PKR fell by 2.20 rupees or 0.63% to 354.20 compared to 352.00 a day ago.

The local unit deteriorated 1.64 rupees or 0.53% against Swiss franc to close at 311.22.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value strengthened 0.35 paisa or 0.19% to close the session at 1.8573 versus 1.8608 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee decreased 13.30 paisa or 0.35% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.57 from 38.44.

The local currency weakened by 3.64 paisa or 0.05% against Saudi Riyal to 74.55. While it deteriorated by 2.90 paisa or 0.04% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.12.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has weakened against the US Dollar by 1.23 rupees or 0.44%. While it has depreciated 1.02 rupees or 0.36% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 11.60% and 11.85%.
