PKR falls 10 paisa against USD

October 16, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 10 paisa or 0.04% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 277.84 per USD, compared to previous closing of 277.74.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 277.95 and a low (ask) of 277.85.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 277.85 for buying and 279.25 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR rose 71.06 paisa or 0.23% against the Euro, closing at 302.33 compared to the previous value of 303.04.

Against the British Pound, PKR strengthened by 2.12 rupees or 0.58% to 361.10 compared to 363.22 a day ago.

The local unit gained 46.33 paisa or 0.14% against Swiss franc to close at 321.99.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value rose 0.39 paisa or 0.21% to close the session at 1.8593 versus 1.8632 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee gained 0.65 paisa or 0.02% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.03 from 39.04.

The local currency fell by 2.46 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 74.00. While it fell by 2.73 paisa or 0.04% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.64.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has rose against the US Dollar by 49.89 paisa or 0.18%. While it has appreciated 4.02 rupees or 1.45% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1 bps to 14.4% and 14.65%.
