PKR depreciates by 9 paisa at interbank trade

March 18, 2020 (MLN): Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 9 paisa against US Dollar (USD) in today's interbank session as the currency closed the day's trade at PKR 158.52 per USD, against yesterday's closing of PKR 158.43 per USD.

The rupee traded within a very narrow range of 45 paisa per USD showing an intraday high bid of 158.80 and an intraday Low offer of 158.50.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 157/158.5 per USD.

Alternatively, the currency gained 2.6 rupees against the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 190.67 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 193.31 per GBP.

Similarly, PKR's value strengthened by 2.1 rupees against EUR which closed at PKR 173.75 at the interbank today.

On another note, within the money market, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) conducted an Open Market Operation in which it injected Rs.257.15 billion for 2 days at 12.55 percent.

The overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 12.60/12.75 percent, whereas the 1 week rate was 12.50/12.55 percent.
