PKR decreases by 9 paisa against USD

May 02, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) deteriorated by 8.59 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.06 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 280.97.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 281.20 and a low (ask) of 281.05.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.80 for buying and 282.90 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR increased 1.64 rupees or 0.51% against the Euro, closing at 318.17 compared to the previous value of 319.82.

Against the British Pound, PKR rose by 2.56 rupees or 0.68% to 373.53 compared to 376.08 a day ago.

The local unit gained 1.13 rupees or 0.33% against Swiss franc to close at 339.61.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value rose 3.23 paisa or 1.64% to close the session at 1.9359 versus 1.9682 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee rose 2.75 paisa or 0.07% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.65 from 38.68.

The local currency weakened by 3.79 paisa or 0.05% against Saudi Riyal to 74.95. While it deteriorated by 2.34 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.52.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has depreciated against the US Dollar by 2.72 rupees or 0.97%. While it has deteriorated 2.51 rupees or 0.89% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2bps to 11.83% and 12.08%.
