PKR remains largely flat against USD

April 15, 2026 (MLN):The Pakistani rupee (PKR) remained largely flat against the US dollar in Wednesday’s interbank session, closing at PKR 278.96 per USD compared to the previous day’s closing of 278.97.

During the session, the currency recorded an intraday high (bid) of 279.00 and a low (ask) of 278.95.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.50 for buying and 280.00 for selling.

Against major global currencies, the rupee weakened by 28.13 paisa (0.09%) versus the euro, closing at 328.80 compared to 328.52 previously.

It also declined by 82.35 paisa (0.22%) against the British pound to 378.26, down from 377.44.

The local unit fell by 26.16 paisa against the Swiss franc, closing at 357.16.

Against the Japanese yen, the rupee lost 0.28 paisa (0.16%) to settle at 1.7559 compared to 1.7531 in the previous session.

In contrast, it gained 1.04 paisa (0.03%) against the Chinese yuan, closing at 40.91 versus 40.93.

The PKR slipped by 1.12 paisa (0.02%) against the Saudi riyal to 74.35, while it appreciated by 1.41 paisa (0.02%) against the UAE dirham, closing at 75.95.

On a broader basis, the rupee has strengthened by Rs4.80 (1.72%) against the US dollar during the current fiscal year and gained Rs1.16 (0.42%) so far in the calendar year.

In the money market, the benchmark 6-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates declined by 5 basis points, settling at 11.29% and 11.54%, respectively.
